| About Us - Mission/Vision
 | Mission Huntsman Cancer Foundation's sole purpose is to fund the mission of Huntsman Cancer Institute: to understand cancer from its beginnings, to use that knowledge in the creation and improvement of cancer treatments, to relieve the suffering of cancer patients, and to provide education about cancer risk, prevention, and care. The Huntsman Cancer Foundation gives a Reason to Hope® to cancer patients and their families and is dedicated to funding cancer research, cancer treatment and education programs, research and patient-care facilities, and to ensuring excellence in these endeavors through the development and prudent stewardship of private resources. Huntsman Cancer Foundation only funds requests for cancer programs at Huntsman Cancer Institute. |
Vision We imagine a time when cancer is no longer the leading cause of death for people 85 years old and older. We envision a time when cancer is eradicated altogether. Thanks to research, many forms of cancer are now entirely prevented or diagnosed in their earliest, most treatable stages. By funding efforts to better understand the beginnings of cancer and more effectively treat cancer, the Huntsman Cancer Foundation helps relieve suffering and improve the quality of life for cancer patients, survivors and their families until this very complex disease is wiped from the memory of mankind. |
History
In 1995, the Huntsman family founded the Huntsman Cancer Foundation with the sole purpose to ensure the financial future of the work at Huntsman Cancer Institute. Annually, Huntsman Cancer Foundation secures one third of the operating budget for the Huntsman Cancer Institute. In 2007, the Chronicle of Philanthropy ranked Jon M. Huntsman in the second place position on their 2007 list of most philanthropic individuals. He has been motivated by his personal experience with cancer and his concern for the global human family. | |
