Top Ten Golf Tips
Top 10 general tips of doing a golf event (high risk event):
1. Golf events are typically not the easiest way to raise money! Draft a committee of helpful volunteers (your friends, family, colleagues, etc.) to help in the endeavor
2. Negotiate the very best greens fees and lunch price with courses in your area-- shop around... do NOT sign a contract until you have notified our office.
3. When you have all of your expenses determined, multiply that amount by 4-- that is the minimum you should charge your participants-- this way, the majority of the donation will be that-- a donation to the mission of your cause-- otherwise, people are just paying to golf and you won't raise money.
4. Decide how much money your group would like to fundraise. This will help keep you goal-oriented and your committee focused on the mission.
5. Set a schedule to give your committee time to collect donations and give yourself time to plan! Check into other events in your area to avoid scheduling on the same day.
6. Set up specific dates and stick to them. Have sponsors and guests turn in money prior to the event.
7. Do your best not to get shirts, giveaways, etc. donated through you or your committees' contacts.
8. Set a minimum fundraising amount each committee member will raise.
9. Make checks payable to "Huntsman Cancer Foundation" and instruct those walking in your event to turn them in to you PRIOR to your event-this is important as we've seen too many event managers rely on turn in AT the event, and there is no guarantee of the
donations then and you won't have an idea of who has fundraised enough to participate.
10. Remember why you are doing this-many will opt to walk on behalf of someone who has been touched by cancer-this will help inspire others to give.
